Expected Student Workload
Students are expected to schedule at least an additional 20 minutes per day or 100 minutes (1.67 hours) per week for this course in addition to the regularly scheduled class hours. Students who fail to complete assigned school work during class may need additional time. It is recommend that students dedicate a specific time and place each weekday to complete their required coursework or study for science.
Homework
Students will learn and develop valuable habits in middle school to help prepare them for high school and beyond this year. Research suggests that students improve dramatically when they complete homework or schoolwork in the same place at the same time every day even if they “say” they don’t have homework. They do. Students in 8th grade are expected to have approximately 80 minutes of homework each weekday total for all subject areas in addition to their class work. This would equal approximately 20 minutes of additional work on average for science each day.
