Plate Tectonics
Part 1

How can we construct explanations for the theory of plate tectonics accounting for (1) the motion of lithospheric plates, (2) the geologic activities at plate boundaries, and (3) the changes in landform areas over geologic time?
IntroductionFrom a distance, way out in space, it may not be obvious that Earth is full of life. You have to get pretty close to see the biggest forests, and closer still to see the work of humans, let alone microorganisms. But our planet is constantly changing and therefore, the life-forms that live on it must also change. Earth's landmasses are broken apart into seven continents, which are separated by vast waters. Below those oceans, in the unseen depths of our planet, things are even livelier. The Earth is chewing itself up, melting itself down, and making itself anew.
