Course Goals
The following goals articulate the general objectives and purpose of this course. Students will:
- Become familiar with many of the fundamental concepts in Earth science.
- Develop 21st-century technological and scientific skills.
- Regularly engage with science and engineering practices.
- Learn how to appropriately respect and share ideas to collaborate with others.
Course Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Use science and engineering practices, including the processes and skills of scientific inquiry, to develop an understanding of science.
- Develop an understanding of the processes that alter the structure of Earth and provide resources for life on the planet.
- Develop an understanding of the universe and the predictable patterns caused by Earth’s movement in the solar system.
- Develop an understanding of the effects of forces on the motion and stability of an object.
- Develop an understanding of the properties and behaviors of waves.
- Develop an understanding of Earth’s geologic history and its diversity of life over time.
- Develop 21st-century skills.
